Setting the Record Straight

I enjoyed my career on the Philadelphia Common Pleas court immensely, and I am extremely proud to have served for 27 years. I sincerely hope that my contributions were worthwhile. I have been told they were by many attorneys whom I admire greatly.

Unfortunately, prior to my retirement from the bench, some misunderstandings arose as to some of my actions while sitting at trial. The subsequent publicity was deeply embarrassing to me. Much to my relief, the misunderstandings were eventually cleared up and I was vindicated of any alleged inappropriate action. However, the vindication occurred somewhat belatedly. Some people who did not follow the story closely have apparently been left with the impression that I retired under somewhat of a cloud.

To set the record straight, I have assembled the following materials. Thank you for your consideration. Should you have questions regarding this topic, do not hesitate to contact me.

Sincerely,

Judge Marvin R. Halbert (Retired)
